Phew, I got the bulk of the shopping done on Saturday for my Thanksgiving dinner. Not to worry, I’ll be sure to have plenty of wonderful side dishes to go along with this main dish. I’ll try to blog about as many of them as I can on that busy day! (And if I don’t blog them on Thursday, I will in the 48 hours to follow.) I will try to keep my sides light so I can fit into my new Black Friday outfit that I purchased over the weekend. Who am I kidding … Thanksgiving side dishes aren’t meant to be light. Just have a little bit of everything. Not too much, everything in moderation they say.
I always get myself a new outfit for the big day. One year, I got the cutest Juicy Couture “sweatsuit” – there was no way I was going to sweat in that cute outfit – and a pair of wooden heal wedge animal print sandals to go with it. I should have learned my lesson from buying shoes like that when I went to Vegas with my Mom and Sister. But no, I didn’t learn. Those animal print, wood healed wedges were a mistake for Black Friday, a big mistake. Those that know me well, know this about me … I set my alarm for 4:00 a.m. I wake up … bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, get in the shower and make myself presentable for the fun day ahead. I have to look my best … I do have a new outfit to put on, after all. Once I’m ready, I head to the McDonald’s drive through for my Egg McMuffin (now an Egg White Delight) and a large Diet Coke (I’m not doing yoga so the Diet Coke should be fine). This should keep me energized for a good few hours. I start out at the mall by 5:00 a.m. and don’t stop until they close at 11:00 p.m. I am a definite marathon shopper on this day. I’be made a note to myself to wear a pair of comfortable Nike’s this year. One must be comfortable to get as much done as I do at the mall. I bought myself a new pair of yoga (I should really say non-yoga) pants. I don’t do yoga … I did for 6 weeks at the local Rec Center. It just doesn’t seem to be my thing. One day maybe … but not today. I’ll just keep walking for my exercise. It suits me just fine.
Along with the yoga pants I bought myself to wear for my big day, I also bought a cute top. It’s not very warm, so I’ll bring along a light jacket. You definitely shouldn’t get too hot while doing your Holiday shopping. It only ends up making a person grumpy. Always best to be on the cooler side.
I even bought new socks … notice they say “performance”? I can’t take any chances this year.
Wishing you all a wonderful week of planning for your big Thanksgiving dinner. I’m going to be making a little something fun for dinner tonight that will tie all of my Thanksgiving turkey and sides together. Check my blog tomorrow for what it is. I think it’s going to be fun.
Until next time, Kris
